You don’t have to have the right words to reach out.
We can begin wherever you are.

Grief can feel disorienting.

Sometimes it shows up as sadness, anxiety, numbness, or a sense that something just isn’t the same.

Whether your loss is recent or long held, visible or unseen—you deserve a space where it can be met with care.

This is a place to slow down, to be supported, and to begin making sense of what you’re carrying.

“Hi, I’m Vanessa.”

I’m a grief specialist and Director of Kintsugi Grief Center in Pasadena.

I support individuals and groups navigating grief, loss, and life transitions, offering a space that is grounded, relational, and deeply human.

“WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK TOGETHER”

Therapy with me is not about “fixing” your grief.

It’s about creating a space where you feel seen, supported, and not rushed.

My work is relational, meaning our connection becomes part of the healing process.

Ways to Connect

Our Offerings

  • Support Groups

Each person experiences loss and grief in their own unique way. Our individualized support groups are tailored to reflect the various types of loss, providing an opportunity to connect with others who have experienced a similar loss as yours.

  • Grief Education

Our workshops provide grief education for individuals in care professions, such as community educators and therapists, who may benefit from a deeper understanding of the grief journey, and how to better support those going through it.

  • Community Events

At the very heart of our center is a desire to provide connection and community to those navigating the grieving process. Find support and kinship through social gatherings: supper clubs, grief coffee Sundays, clay and grief art nights, and walks/runs for hope.

This space may be for you if:

  • You’ve experienced the loss of a loved one

  • You feel overwhelmed by grief or stuck in grief

  • You’re navigating a life transition

  • You want support that feels human, not clinical

Who we are

About Our Center

At Kintsugi Grief Center, we hold the belief that even in the midst of loss, there is space for care, connection, and healing.

Grief can feel disorienting—at times overwhelming, at times quiet and hard to name. However it shows up, you don’t have to move through it alone.

We offer a supportive space for individuals and groups navigating grief, loss, and life transitions, including more complex or layered experiences of grief. Our work is grounded in a relational, compassionate approach, honoring each person’s unique path.

At the heart of this work is connection—creating a place where you can be met, supported, and begin to make meaning in your own time.

THE STORY OF KINTSUGI

Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is a Japanese art and philosophy that honors breakage as part of an object’s story, rather than something to hide. Often translated as “golden joinery,” it involves repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold, highlighting the cracks instead of concealing them. In doing so, the piece becomes more meaningful—not in spite of its history, but because of it.

In many ways, Kintsugi reflects the process of healing. When something breaks, there is a natural desire to restore and make sense of what has been lost. Through care, intention, and time, something new begins to take shape. Whether it is a repaired bowl or a mended heart, the result carries both its history and its transformation—honoring what has been, while making space for what can still become..

This is the heart of our work at Kintsugi Grief Center.”
